Summary: Aspen Aerogels, Inc. is searching for a highly-motivated, resourceful, technical thinker to join our Finance team for the role of Manager SEC Reporting.  This position leads the coordination and preparation of Forms 10-K and 10-Q and assists with the preparation and review of various other SEC filings. The Manager SEC Reporting will be heavily involved in supporting the company’s internal controls over financial reporting in addition to having general ledger and monthly responsibilities.  This is a hands-on position and the ability to multitask, work with all levels of management and across functional departments is essential.  The individual must demonstrate strong analytical skills with superior attention to detail. 

Duties and Responsibilities:       

  • Lead the coordination and preparation of SEC filings.
  • Work directly with company’s Finance executives in the preparation and review of quarterly earnings releases as well as investor presentations. 
  • Prepare, maintain and enhance internal control documentation under the Sarbanes-Oxley Act and drive its compliance.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact with the company’s external auditors as well as the internal audit function. 
  • Assist in the annual financial statement audit and quarterly reviews by providing audit schedules, support and responding to inquiries.
  • Work closely with the Finance team during the monthly financial close process including recording journal entries, preparing general ledger reconciliations, analyzing key accounts, preparing budget to actual and variance analyses, and assessing adequacy of reserves and accruals.
  • Assist in the annual budgeting process including working with department managers in developing forecasted spend.  
  • Research technical accounting issues and drive the implementation of new U.S. GAAP.
  • Participate in special projects by supporting management and the project team in various tasks.


Supervisory:  This job has no supervisory responsibilities.


  • M.S. or MBA in Accounting and CPA designation
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge and understanding of U.S. GAAP and internal controls
  • Experience with SEC reporting guidelines
  • Minimum 5 years in public accounting or corporate environment
  • Expert-level Excel proficiency; Oracle experience a plus.
